Users often encounter missing channels or no signal even after an auto-scan when using a TV antenna. This issue may be caused by signal source changes, incorrect device settings, or insufficient antenna performance, and can be resolved through the following steps:
TV stations in some regions periodically adjust their transmission frequencies or power, causing original channels to become unreceivable. Users need to rescan for channels: enter the "Auto Scan" or "Channel Settings" option in the TV menu, select "Antenna Input," and start a full-band scan. If channels are still missing after the scan, visit the official website of the local broadcasting department to check the latest frequency parameters, and manually input values such as frequency and symbol rate to add them.
The TV must be set to "Antenna Input" (Antenna/DTV) mode to receive terrestrial digital signals. If it is mistakenly set to "Cable" (Cable/CATV) or "Satellite" (Satellite), it will result in no signal or missing channels. Check the interface labels on the back of the TV to ensure the antenna cable is plugged into the "ANT IN" or "RF IN" port, and switch the signal source to the corresponding mode in the menu. Some smart TVs require you to separately select "Digital TV" or "Terrestrial" in the "Source" options.
Different antenna models support different frequency ranges. If the missing channels belong to the UHF (470-862MHz) or VHF (174-230MHz) high-frequency bands, but the current antenna only supports low-frequency bands, you will need to replace it with a full-band antenna. Directional antennas are suitable for receiving distant signals, while omnidirectional antennas cover surrounding signals. If you live on the edge of signal coverage, you can install a signal amplifier or a high-gain antenna, but be careful to avoid excessive amplification that could lead to noise interference.
Summary: Missing channels should be troubleshooted from three aspects: signal source, device settings, and antenna performance. First, confirm whether the TV station has adjusted its frequency band, then check the TV input mode and antenna compatibility. If the problem persists, contact the community or property management to understand the regional signal coverage, or obtain technical support through the broadcasting service hotline. Regularly updating the TV firmware can also fix some search algorithm bugs.
